The valley offers a jam-packed activity schedule!

The valley offers a jam-packed activity schedule whether you’re looking to thrill out or chill out. Outdoor lovers can enjoy awesome MTB and hiking trails, open water swimming, horse riding and even a round of golf. Sundowners, wine tastings or taking the Devon Valley Detour to explore some of the wineries will slow the pace down.

What To Do

Activities in the Valley

Whisky tastings

Whisky tastings and single malt collection at Devon Valley Hotel.

Golf

Be sure to play some of the best golf courses in the Western Cape.  Other than the local Devonvale course, nearby courses include Stellenbosch, De Zalze, Pearl Valley and Erinvale.

Mountain Bike & Running Trails

Devon Valley is one of the entry points to the Bottelary Hills Renosterveld Conservancy (BHRC) mountain bike trails.   The BHRC serves as a buffer zone to protect and maintain the rich biodiversity of the area that include Swartland Shale Renosterveld (critically endangered), Swartland Granite Renosterveld (critically endangered) and Boland Granite Fynbos (endangered). Game such as caracal, grysbok, grey duiker, porcupine, bat-eared foxes, cape foxes and otters still roam naturally. Many bird species are also found in the Bottelary Hills.

Since its inception the BHRC has preserved and expanded the remaining tracts of critically endangered Renosterveld fynbos – an estimated 1 500 hectare of the BHRC spanning approximately 10 000 hectares consists of Renosterveld fynbos.  The BHRC includes four WWF Conservation Champions (De Morgenzon, Mooiplaas, Neethlingshof and Hartenberg) and three Private Nature Reserves (Koopmanskloof, Mooiplaas and Steeneveld).

The BHRC mountain bike trail network was launched in 2011 and currently spans 130km across privately owned land and conservation areas.  Day permits are available at the Devon Valley Hotel reception, Dwars in die Weg security and Devon Vale Golf & Wine Estate pro shop.  Annual permits are available online.
